Strategic Plan for Professional Development

The vision of Educational Services Professional Development is to involve all members of the school community in a continuous process of teaching and learning. Teachers will develop a deep understanding of the theory that drives effective delivery of instruction and classroom management. As instructional leaders, administrators will learn the strategies that promote “change” and will ensure accountability of the Educational Program. Resource personnel/paraprofessionals will gain knowledge of teaching practices that are essential for the accomplishment of students’ success in reading and writing. Parents/family members will understand the importance of the home-school connections and will learn the necessary skills for supporting learning at home. The intentional outcome will ensure that Students will accomplish success in all content areas and students will discover their talents as they continue their journey as lifelong learners.
Professional Development for TEACHERS

Sessions will be scheduled and designed specifically to bridge Elementary, Middle School and High School based on school districts' vision and needs. Example of sessions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Language Arts Above & Beyond
    Using Understanding by Design Model participants will create TEKS based Thematic Units of Instruction to enhance the Language Development (English/Spanish) of the linguistically able students. Overarching literature connections, writing projects and student presentations will be the focus of this training. Day 1 will be devoted to learning the Understanding by Design Model for Teaching and Learning. Day 2 will be devoted to creating TEKS based Thematic Units of Instruction in Language Arts.
  • Integrating Language Arts and Social Studies
    Using Understanding by Design Model participants will create TEKS based Thematic Units of Instruction to enhance Reading and Writing while integrating Social Studies skills. Social Studies Objective 5- "The student will use critical-thinking skills to analyze social studies information," will be the driving force of this training. Overarching Social Studies literature connections, writing projects and student presentations will be the focus of this training. Day 1 will be devoted to learning the Understanding by Design Model for Teaching and Learning. Day 2 will be devoted to creating TEKS based Thematic Units of Instruction in Language Arts Reading/Writing and Social Studies.
  • Critical and Creative thinking Curriculum and Instruction for the new teacher of the Gifted
    The goal of this presentation is to assist the new teachers in designing differentiated language arts instruction for the Gifted Child. Compare and contrast of literature, inferences, generalizations and point of view will be addressed during this workshop. Day 1 will be devoted to understanding the needs of the creative thinkers and how we can nurture those needs with higher order-thinking curriculum as we target the TEKS. Day 2 will be devoted to the design of differentiated language arts instruction. This Professional Development Training is a must for the teachers of the Gifted Child. Administrators are welcome to attend.

Professional Development Training

Group 1 Grades 1st, 2nd and 3rd
Group 2 Grades 4th. And 5th
Group 3 Grades 6th. And 7th
Group 4 Grades 8th, 9th, and 10th
Group 5 Grades 11th. And 12th

Professional Development sessions will assist the school districts to increase the TAKS passing rate of all students. Student progress will be evident.
